DATA CONTROLLER

PIERSTONE is an international alliance of lawyers registered by the Brussels Bar Association. Your data will be processed by the PIERSTONE affiliate providing services to you.

SCOPE

The personal data we process include contact details of our clients and business partners with whom we liaised either in the course of our cooperation on joint projects (including but not limited to pro bono projects) or our provision of legal consultancy. Generally, we process the email addresses and phone numbers supplied to us via email or in the form of a business card. Exceptionally we may process further personal data taking into account the particular needs of a legal matter or project.

PURPOSE

We process your personal data to enable us to work with you on joint projects (including pro bono), provide legal services, or to send you legal updates, invitations, or marketing communications (see more details on this below).

USE OF PERSONAL DATA FOR MARKETING PURPOSES

We may use your personal data to keep you informed of legal developments, events, new website features, or services that we believe may be of interest to you, provided that we have the requisite permission to do so (on the basis of either your consent, or our legitimate interest to provide you with marketing communications where we may lawfully do so).

RETENTION PERIOD

We will retain your personal data for as long as is necessary to provide you with the services that you have requested from us or for as long as we reasonably require to retain the information for our lawful business purposes, such as for the purposes of exercising our legal rights, or where we are required by law to retain such information.

SECURITY MEASURES

We follow strict security procedures as to how your personal information is stored and used. We have implemented state-of-the-art data storage methods and security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, improper use or accidental loss. We procure that our employees and any third parties engaged in the processing of your personal data are duly instructed and subject to strict confidentiality obligations.

You may request us to:

provide you with access to the personal data we process with respect to you and send you a copy of your personal data that we process;

  • erase the personal data we process with respect to you;
  • amend your personal data if such data are no longer correct or complete;
  • restrict the processing of your personal data, meaning that we will only be able to store such data without utilizing such data for any other purposes; and
  • limit the processing of your personal data on the basis of a legitimate interest.
